Nichele 'Nici' Miller, 80, a resident of the DeKalb County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in DeKalb, IL, died Friday, July 4, 2025 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie United Methodist Church.
Nici was born October 21, 1944 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the only child of Lois and Russell Schulz. Nici attended the University of Iowa, where she earned a degree in Nursing and met her future husband, Dr. Robert G. Miller. She was devoted to her family and her Christian faith. Together with Bob, they raised one daughter and three sons. Erie was home for most of her life except for her last 15 years in DeKalb. She loved to sing and often performed with the Erie United Methodist Church choir, where she had been a member. Nici enjoyed writing and was a movie buff, often joining her family at the cinema for movie matinees. While she was not herself a big sports fan, she often indulged her family's fandom, attending countless Iowa Hawkeye games with her family, in all kinds of weather.
She is survived by her 4 children, Christopher (Lisa) Miller, Sycamore, IL, Shelley Hedley, St. Augustine, FL, Curtis Miller, Buffalo Grove, IL, Cary Miller; and 5 grandchildren, Rachael, Taylor, John, Fletcher, and Romy.
