Graveside services for Nina Shelby Brooks, 89, of Demopolis, Alabama will be held Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. from Boyd Cemetery in Boyd, Alabama with Bro. Donald Morgan officiating.
Ms. Brooks passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at her home in Demopolis, Alabama. Born on May 1, 1936, in Livingston, Alabama, she was the daughter of Eugene Burtin Shelby and Tamsy Annah Weathers Shelby. Nina worked as a seamstress at the Vanity Fair mill located in Butler, Alabama. She cherished the time spent with all her family and friends. Nina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, James Noel Watt; stepsons, Mark Brooks and Eugene Brooks; daughters, Betty Watt Overstreet and Amory Sue Scarbrough; stepdaughter, Bessie McCall; brother, Marcus Eugene Shelby; grandchildren, James Edward Norris Sr., Erin Renee Watt, Will Alton Watt, Seth Andrew Mosely, Jimmy Lester Watt, Margaret Eloise Watt, Harley Daniel Watt, Daniel Lee Windom, Barry Kendal Watt, Walter Allen Watt; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Burtin Shelby; mother, Tamsy Annah Weathers Shelby; sons, Walter Edward Watt and William Charles Watt; stepson, James Brooks Patillo Sr.; sisters, Ruth Shelby McCall, Katherine Shelby Plott, Joann Shelby Gilliam.
