Our beloved wife, mother, and “Granny,” Norita Tidwell, passed away on December 2, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born to Clinton and Lenna Bowden on April 29, 1942. She married the love of her life, Henry Junior Tidwell, on December 28, 1959, in Altamont, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple on March 3, 1988.
Norita graduated as Valedictorian from Altamont High School. Mom was born and raised in Altonah, where she lived her entire life. Mom loved the life she built for her family on the Bowden homestead. Her greatest work was within the walls of our home and the fences of the family farm. She was a great example of hard work, service, and dedication. She worked tirelessly, making sure the cows were milked and fed, crops were irrigated, hay was baled, and everyone who came through the door was well-fed and cared for.
Norita was an active member of the community of Altamont and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings. This included serving as a temple ordinance worker, Relief Society President, scout leader, and Primary President. She loved attending church and the friendships she formed there. Mom devoted countless hours in service to her community. She was an Altamont Saddlettes Riding Club member and the Harvest of Memories book committee. She organized several Altamont High School homecoming week events and Longhorn Days Celebrations. Mom enjoyed attending all community and school events. She was filled with the deepest compassion for the people around her, and was always the first to show up with soup and homemade bread to anyone suffering a loss or hardship. She was her family’s greatest supporter. She loved watching her girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in the activities they loved. She enjoyed a cold Diet Coke, visiting with friends and family, a drive to the mountains or through the cows, seeing the kids, and snuggling a new baby.
Norita is survived by her husband, Junior; her four daughters: Sonja Farnsworth (Ron), Mt. Home; LaDonna Brinkerhoff (Jerry), Altonah; Kyla Allred (Darrin), Altonah Janalee Goodrich (LeeJ), Altonah; nine grandchildren and their spouses, 21 great-grandchildren; brother- and sister-in-law, Gene Tidwell (MaryAnn) Joan Koelliker (Craig), and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Preston Farnsworth; son-in-law, Mardell Brinkerhoff; her parents, Clinton and Lenna Bowden; brother, Willard Bowden; In-laws, Henry and DeLaine Tidwell; and nephew, Kelby Craig Koelliker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lake Fork Ward Chapel in Mountain Home. There will be a viewing at the church on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. and on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Altamont Cemetery.
