Norma Agnes Brakke, age 90, of Dunwoody, GA, died of complications from a fall July 20, 2025. She was born November 16, 1934, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of the late Norman and Gladys Richards. She grew up in St. Paul, MN, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1956.
She married Bernhard A. Brakke in 1958, and they were married until his death in 2013. Norma moved with him to Long Beach, CA, where he was stationed in the US Navy; they relocated to Tampa, FL, in 1970, and then to the Atlanta area in 1977. Before Norma became a mother and homemaker, she worked as an administrative assistant and in later years as a gift basket designer for Touch of Georgia. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards with her bridge group, gathering with her church Bible study circle, and playing the slots in a casino.
Norma is survived by her son, David Brakke (Bert Harrill) of Columbus, OH; daughter, Susan Heim (Philip) of Beaufort, SC; son, Steven Brakke (Jennifer) of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Jessica, Richard, and Andrew Heim, Lauren and Hailey Brakke; and brother-in-law Harold Svendsen of Cupertino, CA.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5575 Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Corners, Georgia 30092.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
