Norma L. (Brokaw) Canel, 93, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday (July 6, 2025) at the home of her daughter.

She was born August 13, 1931 in Senecaville, daughter of the late George Eugene "Gene" Brokaw and Juanita (Ackinclose) Brokaw.

Norma retired in 1991 from Champion Spark Plug, where she had served as the AFCIO union representative and member for many years.

She was a member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901 Auxiliary and served on the board at the Secrest Center.

Norma was Methodist by faith.

She enjoyed going to bingo, shopping, and casinos. She loved collecting Longaberger baskets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Canel; two sisters, Wanda and Pat; and a stillborn daughter, Connie.

Norma is survived by two sons, Alan (Dawn) Canel of Cambridge and Amel Canel of Chester WV; a daughter, Paula K. Canel of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Katie and Frank; and three great-grandchildren, Jake, Reese, and Paul Jaxson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (July 9, 2025) from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Commander Jim Gibson officiating.

Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Norma's name be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Traditions Health Hospice, 238 Front Street SW, New Philadelphia OH 44663; or 2) The Salvation Army, 221 Dewey Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
