It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Norma Pandazides, on June 19, 2025 at the age of 87.
Norma was born on July 25, 1937, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to Gladys and Wilson Garrison. Eldest of six siblings, she carried her role as the family's guiding light throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Sofia and Peter Pandazides, and her cherished grandsons, Tyler and Joshua Comey, who knew and loved her as their devoted Yiayia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, John Pandazides.
Norma was a proud member of the inaugural graduating class of Garfield High School (class of 1954). Norma went on to build a distinguished and meaningful career. Her entrepreneurial spirit was evident in the many ventures she led, including owning three Western Union offices, Pandazides Realty, Kiddie Kollege Montessori School (Quantico, Virginia), and the Grecian Gardens Greek restaurant (Triangle, Virginia).
In addition to her business endeavors, Norma had a deep passion for public service and local politics. This culminated in a long and impactful career with the U.S. Department of Defense, where she served as the Director of Child Care Facilities for the United States Marine Corps. She retired with honor in 2002.
Norma loved traveling, gardening, entertaining and cooking. She fully embraced Greek culture - so much so that many would say she was more Greek than her husband! Known for her intelligence, warmth and wit, she brought joy and wisdom to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
