Norman 'Paul' Ragland, age 81, of Litchfield, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 4:24 pm at his home surrounded by loved ones.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Paul was born the son of George Lester and Anna V. (Jackson) Ragland on March 6, 1944, in Litchfield, Illinois. He graduated from Litchfield High School, class of 1962. Paul started work as a welder and spent 23 years in the career with Fiat Allis in Springfield, Illinois. He later worked for Western Waterproofing and retired from there in 2008.
Paul married the former Ms. Shirley Heisman on March 15, 1974, in Barnett, Illinois, and she survives him. They are members of the Christian Church of Litchfield. Together the two enjoyed traveling together and spending time as a family. He also happily took his beloved beagle pup, Mandy, on morning rides.
He also had a passion for the outdoors, whether that was joining the Litchfield Sportsman's Club or being alone on a pond somewhere, he found his peace in nature. Paul loved the sport of hunting for deer and especially turkeys. In his retirement years, he liked to help his friends out with chores and other projects, anything to keep him busy. He was a fan of watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team play and the NASCAR races.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; sons, Lonnie (Wife, Debbie) Ragland of Muldrow, Oklahoma, and Scott (Wife, Vada) Ragland, of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Michael (Wife, Amy) McDaniel, Jason McDaniel, Joe Odle, Joshua Odle, and Mackenzie Ragland; his seven great-grandchildren, Wrigley, Easton, Waverly and Zyler McDaniel, and Cameron, Bailey, and Fletcher McDaniel.
Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his son, Michael McDaniel; daughter, Jamie McDaniel-Odle; his brother, David Ragland; and his sister, Virginia Diesselhorst.
Hough Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Ragland.
