Nutan Mehta Obituary

Nutan Mehta was born on September 25, 1951 to Pran Nath and Vimla Bali in New Delhi, India. She passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Nutan was one of the most selfless, loving people. She was beautiful, intelligent, kind, patient, and a true gem of a human. She had the quiet strength that most people can only wish to emulate in their lives. She brightened every room she entered. Nutan, along with her husband, Sudhir, instilled strong values in their children and were constant pillars of support to them.
Nutan brought all her energy to whatever endeavor she took on. Nutan was a huge proponent of life-long learning. To that end, she had 2 bachelor's degrees and a master's degree. She was an avid reader and had read multiple classics, and instilled her love for books in her children. She always enjoyed good intellectual conversations. She had a curious mind and loved puzzles.
She loved the outdoors, especially the mountains where she was most at peace. She loved to travel and explore new countries and learn about their cultures. Nutan took many of these trips with her husband and children. She equally enjoyed her daily walks and would not be deterred by the inclement weather. She also really enjoyed cooking for family and took great pride in making sure every family member was well-fed and taken care of.
Nutan loved the laughter and camaraderie she shared with her family and friends. Of all the many special relationships Nutan held, nothing brought her greater joy than being with her family: Sudhir, their children and son-in-law. Her love for them and relationships with each nourished her soul.
Nutan is survived by Sudhir, her loving husband of 45 years; children, Girija and son-in- law, Bill, and Divakar, along with her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pran Nath and Vimla, and brother Sanjeev.
Funeral and cremation services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home (9902 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032). For those unable to attend, Nutan's service will be livestreamed.
