Octavia Ann Lockett Payton departed this life on Monday, June 30, 2025 at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Abraham Payton, Sr. Loving daughter of the late Joseph M. Lockett and Elnora (French) Lockett. Devoted mother of Barry F. Payton, Sr., Joycelyn P. Hines, Dareen P. Butler, Christsandra P. Holmes, and the late Ronald D. Payton, Sr. and Abraham M. Payton, Jr. Loving sister of Sister Mary E. Lockett Payton, and the late Elouise L. Stephens, and Joseph "Murray" Lockett, Jr. Granddaughter of the late Albert and Mary Hill French and Betsy and Norah Lockett. Octavia is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Pure Light B.C., Pleasant Zion MBC, The New Genesis Bible Church, and St. Mark MBC, also employees of Payton Place Motel and Restaurant and Abraham Payton Roofing and Contracting Company are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 3317 Toledano St., New Orleans, LA 70125 on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 10:00am.
