Ofelia Salazar, 98, of Silver City went home to the Lord Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Genesis Silver City Care Center.

Visitation will begin at eight o'clock in the morning on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at eight-thirty. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at nine o'clock. In accordance with Ofelia's wishes, cremation will follow the Mass. The Rite of Committal and Inurnment will take place at three o'clock in the afternoon at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved daughter, Lorraine "Lulu" Salazar. Father Martin Okonkwo will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Genaro Pedraza Jr., Robert Pedraza, Roland Madrid, Anthony Madrid, Nicholas Madrid and Armando Munoz. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Munoz, Larry Rios Sr., Angel Arsola, Joseph Munoz,Gabriel Pedraza, Adam Arsola, Larry Rios Jr., Daniel Rios, David Madrid Jr., Moses Madrid, Danny Ray Madrid Jr., Anthony Madrid Jr., Leo Ogas, Tony Garica, Mario Garcia and Mario Quintana.

Ofelia was born March 13, 1927 in Silver City to Arturo Trujillo and Consuelo Salazar and was raised in Silver City. Ofelia had her beloved daughter Lorraine Salazar and she as well was born and raised in Silver City. Ofelia was a feisty lady at times and you could always see her walking everywhere down town. She took care of many children for her friends and helped with many tasks at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church for Father Milano, where she was a devout catholic. Ofelia loved music and didn't miss listening to her radio station "Lengua Billingual" from Los Angeles. She enjoyed playing the piano and having a good time with her friends, as well as special fondness and joyful moments spent with her little niece, Xysaiana Fallstich who would push Ofelia around in her wheelchair. She loved her six cats for many years. Ofelia loved and became very close to her niece, Ramona Munoz, who became her caregiver for six and a half years after her daughter, Lulu's, passing as well as Rosita Medina who cared for her as well for four and a half years. She was very fond of her friend, Leona Ogas who joined in to help with some of her needs, support and to make her laugh.

Ofelia is survived by two sisters, Rosie Pedraza and Maria "Mary" Madrid; three nieces, Ramona Munoz (Rick), Rosalie Rios (Larry) and Yvonne Arzola (Angel); two nephews, Genaro Pedraza Jr (Priscilla) and Robert Pedraza. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arturo Trujillo and Consuelo Salazar; sister, Mary Helen Remigio; daughter, Lorraine "Lulu" Salazar; brothers-in-law; Alex Madrid Sr. and Genaro "Chene" Pedraza Sr.; nephews, Alex "Sonny Boy" Madrid Jr., Danny Ray Madrid Sr., David Christopher Madrid, Tony Madrid and close cousin, Freddie Fernandez.
