Larry P. Gromacki, age 75, of North Kingsville, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from a long battle with mesothelioma cancer.
Born to parents Chester Gromacki and Virginia Gromacki of Fullerton, California. Larry spent his early years in Fullerton California, then joined the United States Navy out of San Diego, California. He served two terms in the Navy as a propulsion engineer on the USS Nickolson. He also served two terms in Vietnam, where he was presented many Bronze Star Medals.
After serving in the Navy, he worked on the USS dredge, Wheeler out of New Orleans as a United States Merchant Marine officer. Later, moving to the Great Lakes area, he worked for the Army Corp of Engineers as a Chief Engineer on the Great Lake dredges and tugs.
Larry was a renowned artist, with his paintings of classic autos and sea fairing sailing boats, across the country. His passion was all forms of competitive shooting. He also enjoyed making leather goods and silver jewelry. Upon retirement, Larry worked as a certified jeweler in Erie, Pennsylvania.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances Gromacki, three stepsons, Terry Weske of Erie, Pa, Troy Weske of Conneaut and Jason Gromacki of Great Lakes, IL, and sister Deborah of California.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St Joseph Cemetery Chapel, Conneaut with Fr. Philp Miller officiating. The American Legion Cowle Post 151 Honor Squad will conclude with Full Military Honors.
