(Nee Doherty), age 79, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 1,2025. Born on January 21, 1946, in West Allis, Wisconsin.
She is survived by her loving husband, Saburo (Sam), with whom she shared 55 joyful years of marriage. PJ was a devoted mother to Patricia Maki Nishi, and Courtney Kimi Suh, and a proud grandmother to Carter, Genevieve, and Emerson.
She grew up in Wauwatosa, graduating from St. Jude the Apostle School, Holy Angels Academy, both in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wisconsin. She taught English to children and businesspeople in Japan. She taught English in the ESL program at Steuben High School and later taught fifth grade and third grade students at St. Sebastian School in Milwaukee for 14 years.
PJ was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Maki Nishi, and her parents Edward and Patricia Doherty, and her grandparents, Leonard and Jewel Serio and Edward and Anette Doherty.
Visitation at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2025 4-6PM. Vigil Service at 6PM. Additional visitation at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 5400 W. Washington Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53208, on Saturday, July 12, 2025 10AM-145AM. Eulogies at 1045AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maki Nishi Scholarship, c/o MATC foundation, 700 S. State Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233. This was established for students studying fire and police science in 1995.
