Patricia Norton Mabie Obituary

Patricia Anne Norton Mabie, of South Valley, New York, passed away at home in the early hours on Friday, July 11, 2025, after a brief battle with ALS. Patricia was born in East Worcester on April 26, 1942, to Leon and Bertha (Hill) Norton. She attended East Worcester School and on April 27, 1958, she married Leland George Mabie in the South Valley First Christian Church in South Valley. Leland and Pat took over the family farm, the Patle Farm, where they operated their dairy business and raised their family. Pat was very active in the community, serving as President of the South Valley Women's Community Club, Town of Roseboom Historian, volunteer at the Cherry Valley Museum, Historian for the Otsego Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Assistant Secretary of the South Valley-Pleasant Brook Union Cemetery, and the Otsego Republican Committee. Among her many passions, Pat was an avid genealogist, author, wood worker, crafter, pie maker, member of the Breezie Acres Bowling team, clerk at the Cherry Vally Agway and Lonesome Whistle Train Shop, child care provider, and many other jobs, as well as the baker of many wedding and special occasion cakes. Patricia is survived by her husband, Leland George, her daughter Debra (Mark) Anderson, sons Leland Fred (Fran) Mabie and Thomas (Kelly) Mabie; her grandchildren, Elena (Keith) Sheldon, Kevin (Brandi) Mabie, Jordan and Joslyn Mabie, Christopher (Abigail) and Annalia Anderson; great-grandchildren Hannah, Ethan, and Holly Sheldon and Aria and Tyler Mabie; her sisters, Betty Miller, Sandra (Raymond) Sutton, and brothers Robert (Betty) and David Norton; Sister-in-Law Marjorie French, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Gerald Norton. Calling hours will be on Friday, July 18, from 11:00AM-1:00PM, followed by a service at 1:00PM at the Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church Street, Cherry Valley, NY. A committal service will be held immediately after at the South Valley-Pleasant Brook Union Cemetery.
