CRAWFORDVILLE - With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Patricia Starr Roddenberry – a woman of incomparable strength, limitless compassion, and fierce love.
A devoted wife, a mother of six, and the steady light of her family, Patricia passed away peacefully in her home on August 3, 2025.
She was born on June 22, 1954, in Indian River County, Florida, to the late Charles Bratcher and the late Josephine Bratcher Rigdon.
From her earliest days, Patricia lived with quiet determination and a deep love for others. Patricia shared a deep, unwavering bond with her husband, Julian Roddenberry, a proud veteran. They were married on September 8, 1975, in Wabas- so, Florida, beginning a 50-year journey of love, respect, and resilience. For the past decade, Patricia stood faithfully by Julian's side as his loving caregiver, never wavering in her devotion through life's most difficult moments. Her strength, patience, and tenderness were a quiet testament to the power of true partnership.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Michael Roddenberry (Georgeann), Katlyn Roddenberry, Joshua Roddenberry (Stephanie) and Gina Hodges. She is also lovingly remembered by the memories of her two sons who preceded her in death, Julian "Snuggie" Roddenberry Jr. (Johnnie) and Samuel Roddenberry.
Patricia was the kind of mother who made every child feel like they were the center of her world – because, in truth, they were. Her children were her heart, and she gave them everything she had. She taught them strength, compassion, courage, and grace not through her words, but through her life. She cheered the loudest, hugged the tightest, forgave the fastest, and gave endlessly without expecting anything in return.
She dedicated 30 years of service to the Florida Department of Highway Safety. Over the years, she was honored with multiple awards and certificates, recognizing her commitment, excellence, and unwavering dedication to work.
Patricia was a proud and faithful member of Panacea Congregational Holiness Church, where her quiet strength, generous heart, and steady presence touched the lives of many. Her faith was not just something she believed – it was something she lived every day.
She had a soul that found its peace in the natural world, especially in the North Carolina mountains, which became a second home to her. It was there that she found rest and renewal, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the open arms of her beloved niece Tammy and family, who welcomed her with love. Patricia especially cherished the visits from cardinals, which brought her comfort and a sense of connection. She always said she could breathe easier in the mountains, and Tammy made sure her heart could, too.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Julian Roddenberry, and a wide circle of extended family, church family, former co- workers, and friends whose lives are forever better because she was part of them.
"She wasn't just our mother. She was our home."

My grandma was one of a kind. She knew the Lord through and through, so I know where she is dancing in streets of heaven with my daddy and the rest of our loved ones. Blessed to have had her apart of my life, as well as her great granddaughters. You will be truly missed by everyone you came in contact with.
Love and miss you forever,
Christina

Mom was the best person I know. She was my best friend and the peace when I could not find any. She was always there for me when I needed her. She loved and cared for anyone or anything. I love her with all my heart. She is with God now and I know she is at peace. I love you mama.
