Patricia Abrams Wright, age 73, of Kinsale, VA, lost her brief but bitter battle with cancer on June 26, 2025. Pat was born on June 25, 1952, to Raymond and Elizabeth Abrams in Charlottesville. At an early age, the family moved to Falls Church, where she attended Fairfax County Public Schools, graduating from Falls Church High School in 1970. After public school, she attended Longwood University, where she majored in Elementary Education. She began teaching Kindergarten in Prince William County Schools and continued for 10 years. It was while she was teaching there that her daughter, Jennifer Betts, was born, and also where she met the other love of her life, Greg Wright. They married in 1985, with both Pat and Jennifer moving to Westmoreland County, with Greg and his son, Gregory Wright, IV. Pat continued to teach but now at Cople Elementary School. Later, she obtained her Masters of Education in School Counseling and became the Guidance Counselor, where she continued until her retirement in 2017.
Pat was preceded in death by her stepson, Gregory Wright, IV, and is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Gregory Wright, III, her daughter, Jennifer Ann Betts, an uncle, Raymond Timberlake of Charlottesville and numerous cousins, whom she considered to be like siblings. Also, there are a multitude of former students, friends, and coworkers whom she loved dearly and whom she considered to be family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, starting at 10:30 prior to the services. Reception will follow the services in the church social hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer UMC, P. O. Box 70, Oldhams, VA 22529 or the Cople District Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 51, Kinsale, VA 22488.
