Patrick Lloyd Alexander
June 26, 1941 – December 17, 2024 Patrick Lloyd Alexander passed away peacefully on December 17th, leaving an indelible mark on every life he touched.
Born to Rachel and Roy Alexander in Colorado on June 26, 1941, Pat's leadership skills and kind spirit were evident from an early age. He was a proud member of the Lake Washington High School Kangaroos, where he excelled in football, wrestling, and track. He and his college sweetheart, Sandi, were married after his second year in college and then Pat went on to play football at Whitworth College. Together, they raised three children, and shared many joyous memories until Sandi's passing.
After graduation, Pat found his calling in teaching and coaching. He began his career in Winlock, WA, before moving to Mount Si High School in North Bend. He earned his Master's Degree from the University of Washington and, in 1976, settled at Tumwater High School, where he left a lasting legacy. Pat was widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to coaching, receiving honors such as Kids USA Wrestling Man of the Year, Director of the 2A State Wrestling Tournament, National Hall of Fame Wrestling Coach, founder of the Little T-Bird program, founder of the Washington State Wrestling Hall of Fame, and an inductee to the Washington State Activity Directors' Hall of Fame.
In 1992, Pat married his beloved wife, Rebecca, with whom he shared over three decades of love, laughter, and adventure. His marriage proposal to Rebecca, showing up to her classroom in Tumwater, dressed in a suit of armor, is a clear example of his joyful and playful spirit. Pat and Rebecca loved to travel around the world, especially to their second home of Kauai, which they visited 47 times. No matter where their adventures led them, they danced together every step of the way.
Pat was a man of honor and respect, with a deep love for God, family, and country. He was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Olympia and his giving spirit was widely recognized throughout our community. His infectious laughter, unforgettable stories, and positive presence touched everyone he met. He found his greatest joy in bringing smiles to others, whether through handing out Smarties to every child he encountered, officiating his granddaughter's wedding ceremony, and playing Santa for his granddaughters' elementary school each year.
Pat is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his brother, Bill; six children; nine grandchildren; and the newest loves of his life-his three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Lochlan, and Violet, who carry forward his love and light.
Memorial plans are being made as we mourn the loss of an incredible man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Patrick, please visit our Tree Store.
