Patsy Brooks, born Lorna Eileen Smikle, age 85, of Paterson, New Jersey, passed away on July 9, 2025. She was born on December 16, 1939, in Jamaica, West Indies, and grew up in Clarendon, Jamaica.

In January 1971, Patsy relocated to the United States, first settling in the Bronx, New York, before moving to Paterson, New Jersey, in October 1980, where she made her permanent home.

During the 1970s until 2015, Patsy worked in private care for a German family. In 1987, she began working in senior care as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Bristol Manor Health Care in Rochelle Park, New Jersey.

Patsy was many things, but her unwavering faith and her deep, unconditional love for her family were her greatest strengths. After deciding to make Paterson her home, she continued her spiritual journey through the Anglican/Episcopal Church and found solace at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Paterson, where she was a dedicated member for over 45 years. At St. Paul's, Patsy generously gave her time and talents. She served as the first female Junior Warden, supported the church's Community Development Corporation (C.D.C.), volunteered in the after-school program, sang in the choir, and was a Senior Minister in the Parish Life Committee for 15 years. She poured her heart and strength into the church and the community she was blessed to call her own. Patsy will be remembered for her undeniable loyalty, her caring spirit, and her profound love for her family and her work.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Oswald Brooks,son, Everton Brooks. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lorna Brooks, Yvonne Holloway, Doreen Brooks, Alrick Brooks, and Jerome Brooks Sr.; her grandchildren: Jerome Brooks Jr., Eric Holloway, Annika Brooks, Pablo Brooks, Nyera Brooks,greatgrand Dy'Neyra Brooks,Donovan Brooks,and Noah Hand; Sister Pauline Jarrett-Wright, Brothers Gladston Smikle, Basil Smikle, Howard Smikle, Frank Smikle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
