Patsy "Pat" Haselden Huggins, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Pat, a daughter of the late Caesar Augustus Haselden and Ora Snowden Haselden Bartell was born on November 20, 1935 in Hemingway, South Carolina. She was pre-deceased by Harry Vance Huggins, who was her loving husband for sixty-six years. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
A proud graduate of Hemingway High School, Pat went on to attend Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina. Her education laid the foundation for a life dedicated to nurturing those around her through her church involvement, her unwavering support of her family, and her work as an educator at Hemingway Middle School.
Pat was a devoted member of Hemingway First Baptist Church. Over the years, she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and youth worker. She was also a member of the church choir and the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). Her commitment to her church community reflected her deep compassion and enduring belief in the importance of serving others.
She found great joy in traveling with her husband and cherished every opportunity to watch her grandchildren play sports. A passionate supporter of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, Pat watched every game possible while enthusiastically cheering for all Gamecock sports teams.
Pat is survived by a daughter, Genie (George) Matthews; two sons, Hal (Darlene) Huggins and Tim (Ingrid) Huggins; grandchildren: Zack (Elizabeth) Huggins, Allie (Eric) Bunch, Max (Savannah) Huggins, Hillary (John) Evans, Kristen Huggins, and Hayden (Amalie) Huggins; great-grandchildren Corbett Huggins, Eden Huggins, Luke Huggins, Banning Bunch, Keller Bunch, Roman Bunch, Stone Bunch, Nolan Evans, Brady Evans, Libby Evans, Summer Huggins, and Hallie Huggins; sister Peggy (Bob) Alexander; brother, Wayne (Frances – predeceased) Haselden; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat's life was marked by kindness and selflessness. Always concerned about the well-being of others, she spent a great deal of time offering comfort and care wherever it was needed. Her warmth touched many lives and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Hemingway First Baptist Church.
