Patsy J. Miller, age 83, of Scottville, Il. died early Friday morning (May 9, 2025) at her residence.
She was born March 27, 1942, in Flora, Il. daughter of the late Harry Franklin and Pearl Idell Benefield Young.
She married Virgil Miller on January 11, 1964, in Scottville, Il. and he survives.
Also surviving are four children, Gregory Miller of Mt. Clare, Il., Jeff Miller (Donna) of Chatham, Il., Lisa DeFrates of Scottville, Il., and Daniel Miller (Rebecca) of Jacksonville, Il.; eight grandchildren, Lance Miller (Lindsey) of Springfield, Il., Kayla Karr (Jon) of Danville, In., Hallie Shireman (Bill) of Anderson, S.C., Hannah Meadows (Tyree) Pheonix City, Al., Landon Hart (Lauren) of Bluffs, Il. Daniella Miller (Zach Osborn) of Jacksonville, Il., Raina Dubose of East Syracuse, N.Y., and Abigail Miller of Jacksonville, Il.; eighteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, Glen Young (Toni Waddell) of Flora, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Larry Young and Warren Lyle "Buddy" Young.
She was a graduate of Flora Township High School and graduated from Alton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She also worked on her bachelor's degree at MacMurray College in Jacksonville. She started her nursing career in the Flora, Il. area then moving to Alton area where she was a registered nurse at Alton Memorial Hospital. She became a school nurse for Northwestern School in 1981 and retired from that in 2003. She was a member of the Scottville Christian Church, teaching Sunday school and helping with vacation bible school. She was the president of the Scottville Historical Society. She loved to flower garden, scrap booking, and traveling.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday (May 13, 2025) at Scottville Christian Church in Scottville, Il. Burial will be in Panther Creek Cemetery near Scottville, Il. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra, Il. Memorials may be made to Scottville Christian Church or Scottville Historical Society and sent to Stults-Neece Chapel, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.
