Paul E. "Bunso" Braun, age 90, formerly of Whitelaw and currently of Manitowoc, died Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Paul was born on December 18, 1934, in Whitelaw, a son of the late John and Anna (Heinrich) Braun. He was a 1953 graduate of Valders High School. While attending Valders High School Paul earned 12 letters in 4 sports and was captain of the track team. On October 22, 1954, Paul was inducted into the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged on October 21, 1957.

On May 7, 1960, Paul was married to Kathryn M. Shimek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2012. From 1957-1960 Paul worked for Northern Elevator. Following his father's death in 1960 he bought the family farm and the couple farmed until retirement. Paul also drove semi for 10 years in the summers for Plymouth Feeds. He enjoyed horse pulling and in 1978 bought a team and pulled until 1986. In 1983 Paul won a championship at the Wisconsin State Fair. Paul was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Survivors include his five children: Bernard Braun; Paul Braun and his fiancée: Colleen Riederer; Pete (Cyndi) Braun; John (Casey) Braun; Theresa (Fred) Hawkins; three grandchildren: Ryan Braun; Rhonda (Jesse) Hill; John (Victoria) Braun; three great grandchildren: Raven, Taylan and John Alexander; one great-great grandchild: Harvest; one sister-in-law: Claire Shimek; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Anna Braun; wife: Kathryn Braun; one granddaughter: Amy Braun; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Raymond Braun; Donald (LaVerne) Braun; Jigs (Barbara) Braun; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Audrey (Chuck) Champeau; Delores (Tom) Reed; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Albert and Mary Shimek; eight brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law: Milton (Edna) Shimek; Paul (Darlene) Shimek; Sylvia (Lester) Zipperer Sr.; Hank (Jean) Shimek; Andrew Shimek; Mary (Joe) Thompson; Dorothy (Mike) O'Neil; Mabel (Harold) Bodert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Richard Klingeisen and Deacon Randy Jaeckels. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with Military Honors to be accorded by the Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post #6179 of Kellnersville. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m.
