Paul David Chambers, a cherished member of the Commerce community, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, in Athens, Georgia. Born on February 16, 1939, in Commerce, he dedicated much of his life to a fulfilling career in City Radio and TV, where he made a lasting impact on those he served through his work.
Paul was a loving father to his daughter, Sonya C. Whitted (Barry), and a proud grandfather to three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Claude Chambers, Jr., as well as a number of nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He was predeceased by his devoted spouse, Lettie Ann Kidd Chambers, and his parents, Claude Chambers, Sr. and Mattie Chambers. Paul was also preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Chambers, Margaret Alewine and Evelyn Wilbanks. Their memories remain a significant part of his legacy.
Visitation will be held at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce on May 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Chad Rising officiating. The family invites all who knew Paul to join them in honoring his life and contributions to the community. He will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. Burial will follow in Jackson Memorial Cemetery.
