Paula Ann Maxcy, 78, of Warren, died June 28, 2025, at Windward Gardens in Camden. Paula was born July 29, 1946, in Rockland to Lawrence Chapman and Eleanor Tracy Chapman. Paula grew up in Thomaston and graduated from Georges Valley High School. She later graduated from Gorham State Teachers College.
Paula spent her entire career teaching for SAD #40 at the Frank D. Rowe School and Warren Community School in Warren. She and her colleagues developed a team-teaching program they called Wonder Years, an innovative way of teaching, involving 3rd through 5th grade students working together in the same classroom.
Paula enjoyed the town in which she made her home and for many years worked tirelessly helping to organize the annual Warren Day town celebration auction.
She had several hobbies and was an avid scrapbooker. She loved to make personal cards for every occasion and would send them to family and friends. Paula enjoyed spending summers at her family camp and sailing on Otis Cove. She was well known for her kind, caring, loving and supportive ways by all her family, friends and students.
Paula was predeceased by her parents; son, Darren Maxcy; and sister, Belinda Chapman.
Paula is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles "Doog" Maxcy of Warren; son, Steven Maxcy and his wife Deborah of Saco; grandchildren, Lydia and Drew Maxcy of Saco, Barrett Maxcy of Damariscotta, Dennison Maxcy of Boothbay Harbor; sister, Deborah Winchenbach of Warren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at the Counce Cemetery in Warren at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paula's memory may be made to Shriner's Children's Boston, Office of Philanthropy, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
