Pauline Mary Kalis, 104 of Sealy, Texas died at home on Tuesday, May 26, 2025.
Pauline Mary Kalis was born in rural Stephen, Minnesota on July 23, 1920 the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Szklarski) Bajdek. She attended rural schools and assisted her parents on the farm. During World War II she moved to Chicago to live with an aunt and uncle. There she reestablished an acquaintance with Florent Kalis (Kaliszewski) also from Stephen. The relationship turned into romance and the two were married on April 23, 1949. They resided in Lombard, Illinois where they raised two children Linda and John.
Pauline enjoyed being a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and baker. When they retired they purchased a home in Stephen, Florent worked for the city and Pauline took up domestic chores for her bachelor brothers. They spent winters in Texas. Florent passed away in 1991. Pauline moved to Texas in 1995 residing with her daughter.
Pauline is survived by her daughter Linda Kalis, daughter in-law Mary Ann Kalis, grandchildren Christopher Kalis and Erica (Bob) Voightmann, great grandchildren Natalie, Matthew and Emily Voightmann, Many neices and nephews including among others Gary Pietruszewski, Sharon (Pietruszewski) Havener and Kalie Havener.
Pauline is preceeded in death by her husband Florent, son John, brothers Otto, Stanley and Ted Bajdek and sister Olga Pietruszewski.
Pauline greeted every morning of her long life with gratitude secure in her knowledge of a loving God.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:30 AM, in St. Stephen Catholic Church of Stephen, MN.
VISITATION: Friday evening, July 18, from 5:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:30 PM.
INTERMENT: St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery, Stephen, MN.
MEMORIAL MASS in Texas: Friday, June 20, 2025, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sealy, TX.
