Paullette Calhoun, age 73, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 1:38 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born October 9, 1951, in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of Bernard and Roah Nell (Chaney) Lechner.
Paullette was a 1969 graduate of Verona High School and received her bachelor's in business education from Missouri State University in 1972. Paullette worked for the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, from 1973 until 1977, was a stay-at-home mom until 1991 when she went to work as a paraprofessional for the Aurora School District retiring after 19 ½ years in 2010. Paullette started every morning with prayer. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games with the grandchildren, watching HGTV, the Hallmark Channel, the Food Network and sports. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church during her childhood and became a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church as an adult.
On May 5, 1973, she married Rick Calhoun in Verona, Missouri.
Paullette is survived by her husband, of 52 years, Rick; two daughters, Allison Tilley and her husband, Andrew, of Republic, Missouri and Leigh Ann Calhoun of Willard, Missouri; one son, Michael Calhoun and his wife, Misty, of Monett, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Caitlyn and Christopher Calhoun, Noah, Natalie, Landen and Asher McRoberts, Max, Charlie, Maggie and Jack Tilley; one brother, Gerald Lechner and his wife, Brenda, of Verona, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Paullette was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Roah Lechner, sister, Terri Lechner and brother, Ken Lechner.
A funeral mass under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, with burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Verona. Rosary will be held from 6:00–6:30 p.m. with visitation to follow from 6:30–8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
