Peggy Jean Bridges, 87, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Mulberry Health with family by her side.
She was born on November 24, 1936, in Bakersfield, California to the late Roseman "Harry" Hoyal and Gertrude Marie (Fisher) Bridges.
Peggy was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Wamego, KS and a member of the Eagles Club in Hastings, Nebraska. She also proudly owned the local favorite Blue Hill Tavern in Blue Hill, Nebraska.
She was a gifted seamstress. Peggy spent many hours sewing all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren quilts as an example of her great love for them. She shared her love for animals by sewing hundreds of masks for the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital Team during the pandemic. Her love of animals was evident through the numerous pets she loved throughout her life. Peggy was also a very gifted gardener.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Greg) Robinson, of Hastings, Nebraska, Keith (Tammy) Lowery, of Blue Hill, Nebraska, and Ellen (Kara) Lowery, of Lafayette, Indiana; brother Bob (Margie) Bridges, of Washington; sister, Janet (David) King, of Oregon; brother-in-law, Rusty Harris, of California; ten grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren with one on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd "Chuck" Lowery Jr.; husband, Lloyd Lowery Sr.; second husband, Harry Howat, and sister, Virginia Harris.
A celebration of life will be held at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego, Kansas on September 1st at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to in loving memory of Peggy. She had a special bond with animals and this memorial contribution will have a positive impact on ill and injured animals.
