To all members of Jed´s family, I am so sorry for your loss. My name is Dan Robertson and I had the privilege of meeting, getting to know, and serving alongside Jed during our training in Quantico and in Iraq. We called him "Mountain Man" for obvious reasons and we loved his stories which only he could tell so well. Jed´s love of life, warm way about him, and caring nature were obvious as soon as you met him. He could always make you smile and though he had a big personality and sense of humor, he also had a quiet and sincere way about him and I cherish the talks we had about life. When I think of Jed I think of kind, authentic, and caring. To know Jed was to love Jed. I know these words wont´t fill the void his leaving has left. But please know how profoundly he impacted me and the warm memories I feel honored to have shared with him.

Semper Fidelis, Jed. Rest in peace, my friend.

Dan Robertson.

Dear Amanda, Phin, and Darby,

Jed was a special man. Our time together was short but impactful. From the training grounds of Quantico to the desert of Iraq, Jed´s easy smile, calm voice, and witty stories made everything better. I´m pretty sure that he introduced me to Robert Service´s poem, The Cremation of Sam McGee.

Before deployment, we once found ourselves at a casino in Palm Desert. Jed was betting like a man who owned the place. When I asked what he was thinking, he grinned and said, "James David, if you wanna win big, you have to bet big!" That was classic Jed-confident, kind, and always ready with a line that made you laugh.

Phin and Darby, your dad had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease with his firm handshake and big bear hug. He brought humor and warmth wherever he went. I will always carry a piece of his legacy with me.

Sincerely,

Dave Fleming

RIP Jed Fitch. He was a friend, neighbor, colleague and co-worker of mine for many years. When he borrowed something he returned it, which is something you can´t say about all neighbors.
Beaverhead county Montana had an excellent County Attorney. Jed was respected by the voters and loved by the community.
Among his peers and professional colleagues he was also respected for his passion as a prosecutor and his leadership ability.
My deepest condolences to Amanda, Finn and Darby.

Jed C. Fitch

Jed and I have been friends since the first day our feet hit the parade deck in Quantico, Virginia. He was a lawyer, a large mountain man from out West, and my first Marine friend. I still remember our drill instructor screaming at us as he dumped out Jed´s briefcase (he was the only one with a briefcase,ha) - funny now, but at the time a pretty terrifying way to start our journey.

I always looked up to Jed. He came to Quantico to become a lawyer, but he was the best at everything we did over those next ten weeks - maybe not marching, but everything else he dominated. Double expert with rifle/pistol. When he was put in charge of a mission he was easy to follow. He went on to become the lawyer he set out to be, and I became an infantry officer alongside some of our closest friends.

Jed ended up stationed on the pretty coast in California, while we were out in the desert, but we stayed in touch and saw each other whenever we could. We reconnected in 2004 when Jed was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines in Al Qaim, Iraq - surrounded by many of his best friends. Jed was always in good spirits and there were plenty of days that we needed that over there.

Jed always had that big, genuine smile. He will be deeply missed - my first Marine friend, and one of the best men I´ve known.

Semper Fi, Jed.
