Peggy Jean Hardin, age 65, of Bostic, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.
Peggy was born on Thursday, March 24, 1960 in Cleveland County to the late Beatrice Hudson Bumgardner. She worked many years at Cone Mills-Florence Plant, and later at Joyful Homes Family Care as a Med Tech. Peggy enjoyed shopping, going to the beach, and attending country music concerts. She was of the Baptist faith. Her greatest love was her family, she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Travis Shawn Owens; grandson, Alex Lewellen; her grandparents, Sherman and Purvie Hudson; and two brothers, Danny Roland, and Dewayn Roland.
Survivors include her son, John Lewis Owens III (Judy), of Rutherfordton; daughter, Brandie Reid (Matthew) of Henderson, Nevada; sister, Cindy Munn, of Bostic; grandchildren, Dylan Owens (Haley), Brett Lewellen (Courtney), Hunter Owens (Maya), Hannah Owens, Madison Owens, Triston Owens (Tia Ferrari-Owens), Jackson Morgan, Soren Reid, and Emeric Reid; great-grandchildren, Nylah Owens, Leilani Owens and Everly Owens; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Friday, July 11th at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Lewis Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
