Peggy Shaver Obituary

Peggy Shaver, 84, of Hale Center, Texas, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, in Hale Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Hale Center Church of Christ with Mr. Jerry Bevill officiating. Services are under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Peggy was born April 23, 1941, in Abilene, Texas, to Robert and Wilma (Yancey) Brown. She grew up in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1959. On January 6, 1960, she married Dick G. Shaver in Clovis, New Mexico. They shared over 65 years of marriage together.

In 1973, Peggy and her family moved to Hale Center from Mayfield, Texas. She worked for Hale Center Coop Supply and Hale Center Wheat Growers and also spent time as a telephone operator. A woman of strong faith, Peggy was a devoted member of the Hale Center Church of Christ since 1962.

Peggy enjoyed many things in life-she was an avid and competitive Bridge player, loved decorating and arranging flowers, and had a special appreciation for gospel music and singing. She especially loved the mountains. Above all, she cherished her family and deeply loved her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dick Shaver of Hale Center; her son, Rick Shaver and wife Melissa of Canyon; her daughter, Stacy Mills and husband Jon of Monument, Colorado; her brother, James Brown of Houston; and her sister, Pat Colson of Aztec, New Mexico. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
