It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Penny Jeter, 70, of Salem on July 28th, 2025, with family by her side. She was born on January 18th, 1955, in Carmi, Illinois to Kenneth and Virginia (Marse) Munsey. She would marry the love of her life, Tommy Jeter, on March 3rd, 1973, and they would spend 52 amazing years together. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alma. She enjoyed going hunting, fishing, doing crafts, sewing, bowling, and softball, through her life. She was a huge dog lover, as they became family, like her four legged friends Klaus and Bonnie. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Penny is survived by her mother: Virginia Munsey of Salem; her loving husband: Tommy Jeter of Salem; one son: Jeffrey (Lori) Jeter of Alma; one daughter: Misty (Kevin) Meyer of Centralia; two brothers: Jim (Stephanie) Munsey of Virginia and Ronnie Munsey of Dix; one sister: Cindy (Bob) Spencer of Salem; 7 grandsons: Justin Jeter, Jason Jeter, Corey (Amber) Meyer, Caden (Cassie) Meyer, Kaleb (Maecy)Meyer, Cameron Meyer, and Lodan (Kenzie) Brubaker; 7 great grandchildren: Holden, Brexley, Kamden, Brooks, Harlow, Grayson, and Ridgeley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Kenneth Munsey; one sister: Diana Kay Ralston; and son: Kenneth Edward Jeter. Cremation rites will be accorded, per family wishes. A private burial will be held at a future date. Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, PO Box 97 / 310 N. Broadway Salem, Illinois 62881, is honored to be of service to Penny's family at this time.
