"Petie"

Petie, age 32, passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2025.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 14th from 5-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. His service will be held on Friday, August 15th at 1pm with continued visitation until 2:30pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date.

Peter Jacob was born on April 9, 1993 in Bethpage, NY the only son of Peter John and Susan Marie (LaRocca) Didier.

From Petie penguin to PokéPete- he really stuck to the name and was Peter Pan the boy who never grew up.

From the moment he was born he was obsessed with animals, by 3 we were at the zoo weekly and by 4 he was holding penguins- when he realized he couldn't own an endangered species- he transformed his obsession to ones he could catch. We're certain that at 6 years old he truly believed he was Ash Ketchum-little did we know, he would evolve into PokéPete, out there catching em all. But if you know anything about Petie, you know, one obsession just wasn't enough- Let's Go Mets! It was never about winning- obviously by his choice in teams. He also had a nerdy side and numbers were really his game, he knew every team, every player and could rattle off stats quicker than any announcer.

Outside of these games was a caring, loving dedicated son, brother and friend. His family and friends were everything. His devotion to his people was like no other, Petie was there for anyone for anything at anytime- no questions asked. Actually not just his people, but anyone he came across. And his love and devotion for his grandpa was like no other, from matching clothes to equally quirky personalities, it brings comfort to know they are back together again.

His adulting included traveling to new and interesting cities, squeezing in ballparks and Pokéstops regardless of the original plan. May have frustrated his travel buddies but for us it meant a great souvenir and story. By day he was a professional, working as an Accounting Specialist for Sonic Automotive. Nights were devoted to his family and friends.

But he never let go of his childhood dreams- turning his love of Pokémon into a successful trading business. The Totodeals became a highly regarded business and PokéPete was recognized widely and extremely respected Vendor in the Collector trade show world.

We could've written a novel about Petie longer than War & Peace but this will have to suffice. His legacy will continue through his home and his community, and he will forever be missed.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his parents, Susan (LaRocca) and Peter Didier; sister Mattingly Didier; his great-aunts, Marie Ambrosio, Joyce (Bob) Cochran; aunts, Terry Meyer (John), Diane Didier; Godmother, Peggy Piontek; uncle Thomas Didier, best buds, Keith Delgado and Will Haynes along with numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Angelina (Trinceri) and Vincent LaRocca and Helen (Hambel) and Peter E. Didier; uncles Jimmy LaRocca, Tony LaRocca, Thom Piontek; and cousin Thomas LaRocca.
