Goshen- Peter David King, 72, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home.

Peter was born in Torrington on October 22, 1952, son of the late John Stanley King and Mary Evelyn (Sarris) King, and had been a lifelong area resident. Peter has had a difficult life's journey. In the late 1950s, Peter collapsed in the family home from the effects of a brain tumor. The tumor was severely effecting his brain functions; additionally his right side was completely paralyzed. Shortly after this operation Peter started experiencing epileptic seizures; which required him to take medication to prevent seizures for the remainder of his life. Peter, in the mid-1990s, also had another brain operation. The long term effects of the tumor were Peter had a limp when he walked, his long term recovery resulted in him being held back a grade in grade school, and his medical condition prevented him from obtaining a driver's license. Peter, though, never surrendered; he never withdrew from his determination to achieve and maintain an active life. He kept pushing himself to constantly exercise his impaired right leg. The result of this effort was in less than two years after the operation he was able to walk without a leg brace.

Peter never failed academically; he worked extremely hard in high school resulting in his graduation from Wamogo High School. He toiled as hard as the other members of the King family in planting , tending, and harvesting the family's large annual vegetable garden. Peter spent may enjoyable hours exploring the forest surrounding his home with his lovable dog Gus. He worked for many years at and retired from the UCONN Dempsey Medical Hospital in Farmington. Peter's noted attribute is that he was considered by his friends and fellow workers for being friendly and very likeable. He would frequently during work at the medical center approach a staff member and ask how the were doing and chat with them. Peter was never hesitant to show his kindness; whether the person he approached was the hospital's chief executive or a hard working secretary.

He leaves his brothers, John Paul King and his wife Virginia, of Milton, Massachusetts, and James Francs King of Tuxedo, New York; as well as two nephews.
