Peter Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hilton Funeral Home on Feb. 4, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Hallock Smith, who departed this life on February 2, 2025 at the age of 80. A devoted patriot, loving family member, and cherished friend, Peter lived a life of service, honor, and integrity. Born on May 27, 1944, in San Diego, California, Peter was the son of the late Robert Hallock and Bettina Ruth Smith. His unwavering faith and deep love for his family were the cornerstones of his life.

Peter graduated from Basic High School in 1962 and spent time at University of Nevada, Reno and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He dedicated over 65 years to a distinguished career in management, working for companies including Henderson Builders Supply, Wickes Lumber, Home Depot, Hechingers and Strosniders Hardware.

Peter proudly served in the United States Navy for six years, dedicating his life to the principles of duty and country. He served in the Vietnam War, where he bravely upheld the values of freedom and sacrifice.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn Mendive Smith, four children, Marc Smith, Christian Smith, Amanda Hill and Katie Hinsvark, and 11 grandchildren: Isaiah, Maia, Grant, Delaney, Alexander, Chiara, Landon, Samuel, Makenna, Ian and Callie. He also leaves behind his two loving sisters, Vicky Holman and Christy Winlow, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Peter lived with a strong and abiding belief in the Lord, inspiring all who knew him with his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast devotion. He cherished his family dearly, always offering love, guidance, and support, along with warmth and wit. His presence was a source of strength and comfort, and his legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Though he has gone home to be with his Savior, Peter's spirit remains with us in the lives he touched. His faith was his foundation, his family his joy, and his love a lasting gift to all who knew him.
