Phillip Douglas Erwin, age 95, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma passed away on July 8, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Phillip will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta, Oklahoma following the service.
Phillip was born on April 6, 1930 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Perry and Vivian (Cretors) Erwin.
Phillip received his Bachelor of Divinity from Southern Methodist University before beginning his over 40-year career as a United Methodist minister. Phillip had a love of learning and went on to receive several more degrees. He served as a United Methodist minister in several communities across Oklahoma. Phillip ended his career as the minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Tonkawa.
Survivors include: sons, Duane Erwin and Ken Cannon of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Bill and Nanette Erwin of Midwest City, Oklahoma; grandsons, Phillip Cecil Erwin and Scott Kevin Erwin; step son, Shawn Toland and wife, Deanna of Joshua, Texas; and step grandchildren, Shelby, Brandon, and Garrett Toland.
Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Vivian Erwin; wives, Annie Marie Erwin, Kathleen Mayo Spangler, and Evelyn Rose Toland; sister, Kay Tanner; brother, Frank Erwin; and two sons, Edward and Robert Erwin.
