Phyllis Mae Weber was born May 28, 1929, in Mankato to Paul and Ella (Tiemens) Weber. Growing up in Mankato, Phyllis was a 1947 graduate from Mankato High School and later furthered her education attending the Mankato Commercial College. Phyllis worked a long and dedicated career as secretary to the owner of Valley News Company in Mankato from 1947 until her retirement in 1992. Phyllis was united in marriage to Edward C. Gilman on January 23, 1955, and started their lives together in Lake Crystal. She was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal for 40 years and later joined the Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. Among many other volunteer positions in her churches, Phyllis also served in various offices in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League over the years. Besides her work as a secretary, Phyllis was extremely involved in the family farm business and the Gilman Construction business. Studying and following family history was one of her favorite past times. She also enjoyed spending time in the summer gardening and traveling throughout her life. Family gatherings and get-togethers always brought Phyllis joy as she relished the opportunity to reconnect with everyone. What brought Phyllis the most joy in life was always her family. May these memories and countless memories forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Phyllis's home at Crystal Seasons Assisted Living for the past 11 years, Lake Crystal Ambulance Service, Madelia Health Care, Mayo Clinic, and New Ulm Medical Center. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Salem Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
