Rainer Van Hassel Obituary
Rainer was born in Decatur, Ga. to Raymond and June Van Hassel. He was a tree cutter and a tattoo artist. Rainer enjoyed go karts, four wheelers, fishing and fly fishing with his dad. He loved water, especially being on the lake or in the creeks. Rainer loved spending time with his family. He attended Fires Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Heather Roberson Van Hassell; four sons, Benjamin Elrod, of Hayesville, Joseph Elrod (Cassidy Marshall), of Young Harris, Ga., Isaiah and Jeremiah Elrod, both of Hayesville; one sister, Tiffany Angulo (Mac) of Atlanta, Ga; and one grandson, Colt Elrod.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the Fires Creek Baptist Church in Hayesville. Rev. Dennis Ashe will officiate. Music will be provided by Diane Crowder. Burial will be in the Roberson Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Benjamin, Joseph, Isaiah and Jeremiah Elrod, Robbie Sprague and Andrew Ayers.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the Fires Creek Baptist Church.

Our deepest condolences to the Van Hassel family. Rainer lived next to us for years before the family moved. He told us how he loved white water rafting. And he did some odds and ends work for us.
