Ralph Rogers Obituary

Ralph "Buck" Carl Rogers, 85, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, following a prolonged illness.

Buck was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Robert S. and Nan Rogers. After graduating from Robert S. Rogers High School in Toledo, Ohio, Buck attended Bowling Green State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. Buck was also a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and proudly served his country in the Army Reserves for six years. While at Bowling Green, Buck met and married Beverly Smith of Clyde, Ohio.

Buck had a successful career in sales with IBM, which took the Rogers family from Ohio to Nebraska to Colorado. Following his tenure at IBM, Buck ventured into entrepreneurship by setting up a computer business and ultimately launching a successful consulting practice focused on loss management and recovery for retail establishments. During this time, he resided in San Diego and ultimately moved back to Colorado.

Buck loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time with his family camping, fishing, and skiing. He was also a sports fanatic, religiously following professional teams as well as the Colorado Buffaloes and his beloved Ohio Buckeyes.

Known for his terrific sense of humor and personable nature, Buck made a point of getting to know people wherever he went, including during family vacations. To the surprise of his family, soon after arriving at a vacation destination, he would often be on a first-name basis with most of the other guests. Buck truly enjoyed life and was loved by everyone who knew him. He always told the best “Dad” jokes, and while his kids would roll their eyes each time he repeated a favorite, they often tell and laugh at these same jokes all these years later.

For most of his life, Buck's family visited Lakeside, Ohio, and as his children married and had their own families, the tradition of a family week in Lakeside continued for over 30 years. Buck’s top priority was his family. He was devoted to the love of his life, Beverly, and to his children, whom he adored. He was a terrific father, father-in-law, and grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren, and he will be profoundly missed by all.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Peter and his son Todd. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly (Smith) Rogers; his children and their spouses: Lisa (Rogers) Lisker and her husband Sam, Kristen (Rogers) WardBrown and her husband Simon, and Matt Rogers and his wife Kerry. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sam Lisker and Josh Lisker, Kaitlyn WardBrown, Madison WardBrown, and Alexis WardBrown, Cole Rogers, and Skylar Rogers.

Buck was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church. The Rogers family would especially like to thank Jackie DelValle who assisted with care during the last five years. She treated him with kindness and love. Also, thank you to Assured Senior Living where he spent the last two and a half months, eventually in hospice.

Buck's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Buck's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation or St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
