Ralph David Wycoff was born November 16,1953 in Amery Wisconsin. He grew up on a farm near Deronda Wisconsin. The creek that passed through the farm provided unlimited opportunities for Ralph to put his many genius ideas into play. Tarzan ropes were hung from the planks of the bridge; the slide from the swing set was hauled down the hill and became a waterslide, swimming and canoeing were favorite pastimes.
Ralph learned carpentry and home construction at an early age. This became his life's work. He was a stickler for doing the job right and took great pride in doing excellent workmanship. His cutting boards were always in great demand and he was always willing to lend a hand to a friend or neighbor to help with home projects.
Being a true Wisconsin man Ralph was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. He owned Packer stock and rarely missed a game. Before the accident that left him with mobility issues Ralph skied, played softball and hunted. He continued to golf and went on several trips with brother Rod.
His favorite was the trip to Hawaii where besides playing golf they visited Pearl Harbor. It was one of Ralph's favorite memories.
Playing pool was also something Ralph enjoyed. Over the years he was a part of several pool leagues and competed in several tournaments. He played to win but no matter the outcome you could be assured that there would be a colorful story. The truth may have been stretched a bit at times!
Just like Willie Nelson, Ralph's heroes had always been cowboys. He often said he was born in the wrong century. He passed away close to high noon at Cumberland Hospital on March 20th, 2025 after a valiant struggle with heart disease. He was preceded in death by his brother Roland, his brother Rod, his parents and stepfather. He is survived by his sister Lori Wycoff, his brother Joe Wycoff, and his sister Gae Magnafici.
A celebration of life will be held May 10th, from 1pm to 4pm at the Turtle Lake Bowling Alley on Industrial Avenue.
