Ramon Johnson Obituary

Ramon Junior Johnson, age 98, of Grove, OK, passed away on July 13, 2025 at his residence in Grove, Oklahoma. He was born on February 18, 1927 in Henryetta, OK to his parents, Clarence Elec Johnson and Mittee (Mildred) Maud Renison-Johnson. Ramon graduated from Dewar High School, Dewar, OK and continued his education at The University of Oklahoma, New York University, and Southern Methodist University. In his younger and older years Ramon loved to play football, basketball, golf, cross-country skiing, and roping calves at various rodeos. He also loved to go roller skating, and that is where he met the love of his life Dorothy, 71 years ago, roller skating at the local Roller-Skating Rink in Modesto, California. Ramon was also a Horse Trainer of Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds for many years, and a retired Safety Coordinator with Union Oil, Unit 76, in the Petroleum Oil and Refineries Manufacturing Business. Ramon was also a safety supervisor at Callary Chemical in Muskogee, Oklahoma and plant manager/safety supervisor at Zebco. Ramon was an artist and writer. During his downtime, he would paint many Religious and Native American Oil Paintings throughout his lifetime, along with being a successful author of copy written books. He was very passionate about his family life and was a man of strong faith. He loved attending the Cowboy Church in Grove, OK. He felt right at home being around all his fellow cowboys. Ramon will always be our forever heavenly cowboy, and his memory will always live on in each one of us. May your heavenly trails be filled with Eternal Life of joy with your horses and mostly with our Heavenly Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ramon is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Johnson and Mildred Johnson; Brothers Gene Johnson and Kenneth Johnson; Mother and Father-In-Law Martha and Clarence Massey. Ramon is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Marie Massey- Johnson; their children Pamela Hays and husband Bill of Denair, CA and Rae Dean Johnson and wife Karla of Glenpool, OK; Grandchildren Kris and wife Mandy Hays of Vacaville, CA, Melissa and husband Jonathan Brese of Glenpool, OK, Andrew Hays and wife Ann of Ceres, CA; Great-Grandchildren Ryan and Evelyn Hays of Whiteman AFB, Ariah Brese of Tulsa OK, Trenton Brese of Glenpool, OK, Emily Hays of Vacaville, CA, Jessica Rader, Allison Vogel, Krista Rader, and Erick Vogel; Great- Great Grandchildren Logan Thomas, Luke Thomas, Roseabella Hays, Paizley Merrell, Greyson Vogel, Autumn Vogel and Delilah Merrell; along with numerous extended family and friends. Ramon's Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, 1:00pm, July 24, 2025 at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Chapel, 722 N. 46th St., Grove, OK 74344. Ramon's service will conclude in the Chapel. Ramon's family will have a Private Memorial Burial at Rose Cemetery, Rose, OK.
