Rand Olson 79, of Stanley, ND, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, ND.
Rand Alan Harry Olson was born in Kenmare, ND to Harry and Alice (Wahlund) Olson on October 14, 1945. Rand passed peacefully at Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, ND on June 9, 2025. The Family lived in Coteau and Williston for a few years, and then they moved to Stanley. Rand graduated from Stanley High School in 1963.
Rand and Diane (Kanenwisher) Olson were married in January of 1970. They celebrated their 55th anniversary last January. Rand and Diane have three children, Randi, Kimberly, and Jeffrey. Rand worked several jobs he really liked, Tioga Air Heaters, Stanley City Manager, Springan Furniture, and EOG Resources.
Rand was fun loving and always ready with wisecracks, jokes, or pranks. He loved helping family and friends when they had projects to do. Projects big or small, he pitched in while having lots of fun getting the job done. Rand loved gardening, landscaping, and flowers. He got Diane hooked on gardening too. Grandpa Rand loved his grandchildren, Michael, Collin, Delaney, and Harrison. He always had a big smile on his face when the kids were around.
Rand is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Randi (Andy) Petras, and Kimberly (Matthew) Dupay; son, Jeffrey Olson; grandchildren, Collin Petras, Michael Dupay, Delaney Dupay, and Harrison Dupay; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Elmer Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Miley Rae Dupay; mother and father, Alice and Harry Olson; mother and father-in-law, Emma and Rudy Kanenwisher; brother-in-law, David Kanenwisher; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Walter Howell; niece, Robyn Lynne; and great-niece, Kaitlyn Kanenwisher.
