Rayburn Feagins Obituary

Funeral services for Ray Feagins, 63, of Athens, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Pastor David Mathiews officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery near Bradford under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Feagins passed away on August 4, 2025, in Athens.
Rayburn Sams Feagins was born on April 7, 1962, in Athens, Texas, to Roy Earl Feagins and Margaret Genell (Cook)Feagins. He graduated from Cayuga High School and spent his entire career working alongside his brother, Steve Feagins, as well as working for Tommy Williams Dry Wall and Ashley Williams Construction. Ray attended Sand Springs Church and had a variety of interests, including working on cars, raising chickens, wood carving, and spending quality time with his family, particularly those who affectionately called him "PawPaw." He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Scott Feagins; his nephew, Coy Feagins; and his great-grandson, Brantley Smith-Marusak.
Survivors include his wife, Denice Feagins of Athens; his mother, Nell Feagins of Bradford; his children, Lorri Mathiews and husband Matt of Athens, Ronnie Feagins of Cross Roads, and Sam Feagins of Cross Roads; his siblings, Steve Feagins and wife Rita of Bradford, Roland Feagins and wife C-Ann of Athens, Gary Feagins and wife Misty of Athens, James Feagins of Bradford, Kristi Hammond and husband Patrick of Bradford, and Danny Feagins and wife Shauna of Larue; his sister-in-law, Karen Feagins of Henderson; his grandchildren, Cassie Lamb and husband Robbie, Madilynn Mathiews and husband Peyton Fortner, Charlsey Feagins, Kristopher Feagins, Saidey Feagins, and Kaytlynn Feagins; his great-grandchildren, Roxelle Smith-Marusak, Bentley Smith-Marusak, Kasen Feagins, Heavenleigh Feagins, and Paiyten Wheeler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Feagins, Roland Feagins, Gary Feagins, James Feagins, Danny Feagins, Patrick Hammond, Ronnie Feagins, Sam Feagins, and Matt Mathiews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9-10:00 a.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home prior to the service.
