Rayburn S. Kingsbury, 79, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on July 6, 2025. Born on March 31, 1946, Rayburn lived a full life dedicated to his family, friends, and community.
Rayburn graduated from Pasadena High School with the Class of 1966. It was at Taylor Hall where he met the love of his life, Linda Gail Parisher, daughter of Wanda and Warren Parisher. The young couple shared a passion for dancing and could often be found at The Carousel, where their love story blossomed. On December 1, 1967, Rayburn and Linda were married, beginning a beautiful journey together.
Throughout his career, Rayburn was known as a dedicated and hardworking man. He worked at A&G's, with the Teamsters, at Dry Ice House Packing Company, Kellogg Brown and Root, and was a proud member of Local 211 Pipefitters and Welders Union. He later became the owner and operator of Kingsbury Painting and Roofing and served as a landlord in Pasadena, Texas, where he was known for his generous heart and rarely raised rent on his tenants.
Rayburn was affectionately known as "Elvis" by many who knew him, a testament to his charismatic personality. He was an avid pool player, often referenced as a "pool shark" for his exceptional skills. His passions included camping, hiking, fishing, exploring historical landmarks, and enjoying music. Above all, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, friends, and family.
Known as a social butterfly, Rayburn could often be found at the local 211 hall, chatting with friends and making new connections. His generous spirit extended beyond his immediate family. After his mother's passing, Rayburn, along with his wife and children, lovingly cared for his Aunt Catherine, taking her to dinner every Sunday. He enjoyed visiting relatives, including Aunt Blanche, Mina Beth, Delores, and many others, always maintaining strong family bonds.
Even in his later years, Ray's helping nature never wavered. He was the type of man who would help carry his sister's refrigerator up flights of stairs, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
Rayburn was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda, his parents Rayburn and Rose, his grandparents, his brother Kenny, and his sister Theresa Clair.
He is survived by his children Lisa Folk, Melissa Gilliam, and Ray Kingsbury; his grandchildren Trey Gilliam, Novalee Folk, and Tristin Conover; his great-grandchild Little John Gilliam; and his sisters Jackie Kingsbury, Kathy Lee, Jan White, and Mary Parrott, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Rayburn's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Rayburn, please visit our floral store.
