McFarland – Raymond Leslie Gehrke, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Grant County Wisconsin, son of Reno and Pauline Gehrke. He married Mildred June Swanson on July 11, 1953 in Madison Wisconsin. Together they raised four children Debbie, Sharon, David, and Michael.
Raymond grew up on a family farm in Madison where he worked until he was eighteen. He would go on to work for Oscar Meyer until retirement. Raymond was also a long time volunteer Fire Fighter for the McFarland Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Raymond and Mildred camped for many years at the Wilderness Campground in Montello.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Wilbur) Mack and Sharon (Dennis) McPherson; daughter in-law, Theresa Gehrke; grandchildren Hope (Mike) Kruse, Matthew (Bridgett) Egner, Travis (Kerri) McPherson, Amanda (Nik) Kimball, Troy Gehrke, Joshua Gehrke, Adam Gehrke; and 10 great grandchildren.
Raymond was proceeded in death by his parents; wife Mildred; sons David and Michael; and many brothers and sisters.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday June 28, 2025 at Cress Funeral Home, 5801 HWY 51, McFarland. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of sharing. A reception will follow.
The family would like to thank Interim Hospice and friend Jamie and good neighbors for the compassion they have shown Raymond and family.
