Raymond John Gordon, 77, of
Titusville, FL, passed away on August 30, 2025. He was a
proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a devoted family man. Raymond was born in Chicago, IL, Feb 2, 1948, to Esther (Joseph) and Stanley W. Gordon. He was a registered member of the Mi'k Maq indigenous tribe.
Raymond, Ty or Top, as he was known, was drafted into the Army at the age of 17. He served for 22 years, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant. His Service included time with 1st Infantry Division in Viet Nam from 1967-1969. He was enlisted from 1971-1989 Serving at Fort Campbell, KY, two tours in Germany, a tour in Korea as well as in Fort Ord, CA. He was awarded Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6th Oak Leaf Cluster), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Overseas Service Bars (2), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Component Bar and the Saint Barbara Artillery Award.
After his distinguished military career, Raymond dedicated his life to security positions, which included 13 years security guard supervisor and to his family. He was known for his charismatic personality, laugh, generosity, and his love of fishing, motorcycling, and golfing. Raymond was an active Life Member of VFW Post 4228, serving as Quartermaster for several years and member of American Legion Post 359, AMVETS 2415 and a Life Member of the American Legion Riders Chapter 359 and of the 7th Infantry Division Association.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Esther and Stanley, brothers Lester Guyer, Robert, Alvah, and Jimmy, sisters Elizabeth and Darlene, wives Carol (Augustine) and June (Riley). He is survived by his loving wife Diane (Redsten) of 10 years; children Carl (Dene), Steven (Chris), Mickey (Melissa); stepchildren Melanie Tangen (Nick), Daniel Micke (Niki), Andrea Miller (Ted), 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9 from 4 to 6 pm with a funeral service at 5 pm at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville. The graveside with military honors will be held at 9 am Thursday September 11 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims. A Celebration of Life after the graveside will be held at 12 pm at the Titusville VFW Post 4228, located at 4411 S Capron Rd,
Titusville, FL 32780.
