Raymond Listanski Obituary

Raymond R. Listanski of Canton Michigan passed away June 23, 2025 at 100 years of age. He was born July 6,1924 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Mary Listanski. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Listanski. Loving father of William (Donna) Listanski and Lisa (Thomas) Gee. Dearest grandfather of William (Jim) Listanski, Joseph (Lindsay) Listanski, Heather (Josh) Cappello, Matthew Gee, and April (Justin) Baker. Dear great-grandfather of Joseph, Zack, Jacob and Greyson. Raymond was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Helen Listanski and Alexandra (Stan) Crawford. A committal service with Military Honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
Ray was a friendly, intelligent, and kind man always considerate of others. Ray went to Scranton Technology High School. He enlisted in World War II in the Army and was promoted to the Air Force as an officer. He was trained as a pilot, navigator and bombardier for the B17 and A29 and attained level of Lieutenant. After WWII ended, Ray was asked to continue his service in the Air Force Reserves for 20 years and attained level of major. He attended Johnson College for carpentry and machining. Upon graduation, he worked as a carpenter and was involved in building Lockheed Martin which at the time was called Daystrom. After completion of the building of the factory, Ray got a job as a machinist at Daystrom. He was promoted to a foreman, general foreman and then plant manager. While working there he attended University of Scranton in the evenings and earned an Associate's Degree in Business Management.
His hobbies were tennis, golf, investing, oil painting, gardening, and photography. Ray was president of the Northeast Photography Club. Ray loved to travel all around the world and lived his life to the fullest.
He was a devout Catholic and involved in the church at St. Gregory's church in Clarks Green PA. He was a church lector, sang in the choir, and ran fund raisers for the church. We will all miss him, his devotion to his family, and love. Having a mass said in Ray's honor would be much appreciated.
