Raymond L. Macey, 94, formally of Bloomingdale, NY died peacefully surrounded by family at the Lincoln House Residential Care Home in Barre, Vermont, Wednesday July 9, 2025.
He was born May 11, 1931 in Vermontville, NY the son of Victor and Mary Macey. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean War from March 1952 to December 1953. He married Helen Douglas of Lake Placid, NY on January 26, 1954.
Raymond is survived by his children; 2 sons: Robert (Laura) Macey of Stillwater and Paul (Carole) Macey of Bloomingdale; two daughters: Deborah (Richard) Taylor of Bloomingdale and Teresa (Bruce) Wells of Barre, Vt; three sisters: Betty Riano of Fort Meyers, FL, Rose Bell of Rochester, NY and Eileen Miner of Albany, NY. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Mary Macey, his wife Helen (Douglas) Macey, three brothers: Gerald Macey of Saranac Lake, Earl Macey of Plattsburgh, and Larry Macey of Plattsburgh, his father-in-law Roland Douglas and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Marconi of Saranac Lake.
Raymond was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was a Veteran of the Korean War, a member of Saranac Lake Vets Club, The Moose Club, and the Bloomingdale Fire Department. Raymond was employed for 50 plus years at Maddens Transfer and Storage in Saranac Lake. He enjoyed working on small engines, reupholstering furniture, gardening, cook-outs, horseshoes and especially spending time with his family and friends. Raymond was also an avid puzzler.
Farewell Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and friend. Until we meet again, we love you very much and you will be dearly missed!
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Thursday July 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid.
