Rene Julie Karapetian, of Chesaning,

passed away unexpectedly at her home on July 14, 2025, at the age of 51.

Rene was born on November 25, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan to Zana Bagley. She graduated from Dearborn High School in 1991, and started her career at AT&T, where she worked as an ITO financial manager for 20 years. While working at AT&T, she the love of her life, Jeffery Montcalm. They married on October 29, 2011. She was blessed with her daughter whom she loved more than anything, McKenna.

Rene had a lifelong passion for crafting. She owned her own jewelry and craft classes called, Midnight Sky by RJK. After her time at AT&T, she drove school bus for Chesaning Schools for two years, and spent some time at Memorial Healthcare in diagnostic imaging. She was known for her sassy, yet calming personality. She had a way of making connections with everyone she met, even at the grocery store. She loved meeting new people and hearing their life stories. She was a great listener and left a positive impression on the people she met.

Her pride and joy was being a mother to her daughter, McKenna. She loved attending craft shows and teaching her all sorts of different crafts.

Rene is survived by her husband, Jeff Montcalm; and daughter, McKenna Montcalm. She was preceded in death by her mother, Zana Bagley; and her brother, Adam Karapetian.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
