Renee Statkus Smith, age 60, a longtime resident of the Naperville area, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2025. She was born on April 22, 1965, in Chicago, IL.

Renee is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Gregory Smith; her loving children, Brittany Caprice Smith, Samantha Elizabeth Smith, and Zachary Lawrence Smith; and her cherished granddaughter, Scarlett Al Rajhi-Smith. She is also survived by her sister, Michelle (Steve) Caponigro Grassman; her brother, Larry Statkus; her niece, Krista Fekecs; and her nephew, Michael Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Carole Caponigro Statkus; her aunt, Sharon Hughes; and her brother-in-law, Kevin Lawrence Smith (Rosa Arribas Smith).

Renee had a remarkable gift for nurturing others. For 25 years, she provided in-home daycare, caring for countless children as if they were her own. Above all, Renee was a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother whose love and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation, service and interment. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. A celebration of Renee's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Naperville Cemetery.
