In Loving Memory of Ricky Arredondo
Ricky Arredondo, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed into eternal rest on Monday, June 9, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on August 6, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jose Arredondo, Sr. and Manuela Villapando, Ricky lived a vibrant 72 years, leaving a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to those he held dear. Ricky was a man of many talents and passions. For 18 years, he was the proud owner of Las Palomitas Bar, where he created a welcoming space for friends and community to gather. His service to his country as a chef in the United States National Guard during the early 1980s showcased his dedication and culinary skill. Later, Ricky poured his heart into his work as a self-employed concrete mason for 38 years, building not just structures but a foundation of integrity and perseverance. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lucy Hernández, and brothers Armando Hernández, Modesto Marcos Rangel, Agapito V. Hernandez, Albert Rangel, and Dominic Villapando. His memory lives on brightly in the hearts of his children: Maria G. Torres (Daniel), Jacob Arredondo (Stacy), and Elizabeth Arredondo. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as his brother Joe Arredondo, Jr. (Janie) of Austin, Texas, and sisters Maria Perez of San Antonio, Texas, and Mary McClaskey Dupree of Beaufort, South Carolina. Ricky's family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who shared their love, calls, texts, and prayers during this time. Special thanks go to his niece, Jessica Hernández, and her husband Benny, for their countless rosaries and unwavering support. Deep appreciation is also extended to Ricky's caretaker of six years, Gregory Haynes, whose compassionate care-from bathing and cooking to providing friendship through life's highs and lows-brought comfort and joy to Ricky's days. May God bless you all. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 7:00 PM at DeLeon Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass celebrating Ricky's life will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Saint Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, followed by burial at San Pablo Cemetery. Honoring Ricky as pallbearers are Jacob Arredondo, Manuel Perez, Rene Perez, Joe Anthony Arredondo, Benny Aguilar, and Gregory Haynes. Ricky's life was a testament to love, service, and community. His laughter and warmth will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he so generously shared. With love and gratitude, The Arredondo Family
