Richard Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vincent Funeral Home - West Point on Nov. 1, 2025.
Richard "Dick" Charles Anderson passed away on October 27th, 2025 in Williamsburg, VA. He and his wife, Peggy, retired to Ford's Colony from Denville, NJ in 2005. Dick was born July 1st 1936 in St Louis, MO to Elvin and Nona Anderson. He grew up in Webster Groves, MO, the oldest and only brother to his sisters Gail and Barbara. After high school, he entered the United States Navy and served on the USS Bennington. Upon completing his naval service, he attended college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. He received his masters in Statistics from University of Oregon, and went on to teach at University of Montana. Dick left his beloved Montana when he was given the opportunity to obtain his PhD and teach at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dick was a proud entrepreneur, and started his own business, The ROI Group, where he designed advanced econometric models to help companies maximize their marketing dollars' return on investment. He was an avid outdoorsman, but his true passion was fly fishing - a life long hobby he revisited over the course of his life. During his retirement in Virginia, he became the Regional Project Manager for Project Healing Waters which teaches fly fishing skills to aid in the recovery of wounded veterans.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, his two daughters Amanda and Megan, their spouses Brendan and Adam, and six grandchildren, Andy, Patrick, Ty, Will, Noelle and River.
A celebration of life will be held in memory of Richard on July 1st, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Project Healing Waters.
