Obituary of Richard C. Banks Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother Richard C. Banks, Jr. He died peacefully at home on Monday, July 28, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Searsmont, ME, on February 9, 1943, to Richard C. Banks, Sr. and Evelyn Walton Banks.

Richard was a 1961 graduate of Crosby High School, loved muscle cars, auto racing, had an extensive collection of model cars and trucks, was a skilled carpenter, and worked for the Belfast school district for many years. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.

He was predeceased by his parents and niece, Anne Downer.

He is survived by his sister Jeanne and her husband Clayton Downer of Belfast; nephew Duane and wife Rhonda of Cape Elizabeth, and their children Shelby, Tori and Jacob; his niece Kimberly and husband William Fitzjurls, and nephew Ryan Fitzjurls; his brother Ronald and wife Sharon Banks of Belfast, and nephew Ronald Banks, Jr; and close friends Mitch, Marcia, and Chrissy, who were always there for him, and his beloved cat, Kitty.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in his memory to the Sussman House, whose compassionate care deserves our special thanks.
There will be a small, private service. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

I hadn´t seen Richard in many years, but I was able thru the years to find out how he was doing through my friends. He holds a very special place in my heart. Richard was one of the hardest working guys I ever knew, and I´m glad he had friends and family to be around him for support during his life, especially during his final days .. may you rest in peace Richard..
